how poetry begins:
a soft building fire
in the deep interior
* *
fever-hot night
yellow moon
the car is rocking
romance in summer —
don’t bother us
we have just been born
* *
language… shifting skies…
by what has this world been burdened and for whom celebrated
since her eyes opened
* *
farther and smaller
mountains
in rear-view mirror

I recognised the connection between the images created in your beautiful poem and your friend’s Instagram pictures, Vera.
I’m well aware of the beauty and depth of poetry but this literary genre has been a little hard for me to grasp. I read Chinese poetry when I was young and Shakespeare when I was doing my language degree. I remember I always needed some guidance to fully grasp the meanings. Perhaps I lack the skills to look beyond the obvious and capture the unsaid…
Your poems, however, are a lovely read, although I’m not always sure if I’ve interpreted in the way they are intended to.

Oh, Isabelle, it is a privilege of mine to have you read my work. I don’t pretend to fully understand but I suppose the beauty of poetry lies in the fact that there is no single interpretation nor a right/intended way in which it should be read. The reader is free to discern it as they wish. You know as people often say, the same piece could be construed by different people in entirely different ways. Indeed, by the same person differently at different times of their lives. Therein lies its universality.
Thanks for this lovely comment. ❤

I am humbled that my pictures inspired you. I had recently removed most of them to rebuild them anew. Built in fire. And I love how you build the poem, and yes, just been born. Our spirits must have connected, as I just finished dedicating a post to you – before I saw yours. With eternal love, I know you
