Impeccable Craft

I once had a teacher
Who perceived with panache
The shadows of our faintest emotion,
A hungry mind, a heart’s ash

A falling tone would rouse him
A downcast, silent lid
Could make him instruct our thoughts
Til all on their own the anxieties begin to cede

I will always remember how he’d found
The knot hidden in the dungeon of my head
Then unbeknownst to himself started unravelling it
Pulling re-pulling the threads back into the sun’s parade

    1. Thank you, John, teachers, like yourself, are precious creatures. Although I did not have the privilege of studying under your tutelage, reading your poetry is the next best instruction.
